Graham and Margaret Johnston, parents of kidnapped BBC reporter Alan Johnston, said Monday that they are “desperately worried” about their son. Alan Johnston was kidnapped in Gaza over one month ago; his abductors have made no announcements or demands. A previously unknown terrorist group announced Sunday that Johnston had been killed, but offered no evidence to support its claim.
Johnston’s parents turned to local Arabs in Gaza, saying they ask “from the depths of our hearts” that anyone with information about Alan contact the local authorities. Local Arab journalists have condemned the kidnapping. Palestinian Authority Information Minister Mustafa Barghouti said that he opposes the kidnapping of foreign journalists who “serve the Palestinian cause.”
