The head of the Herut party, former MK Michael Kleiner, announced Monday that MK Azmi Bishara (Balad) committed treason when he gave a speech in Syria praising terrorist attacks on Israel. The legal punishment for treason is death before a firing squad, Kleiner said.
While denouncing Bishara’s actions, Kleiner said that the problem lies not with Bishara, but with those who elected him. Only those who identify with the state of Israel and its values should vote, he said.
