The matter of 'Peace House' – the house in Hevron which has recently been bought by Jews – is an excuse for yet another argument between Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defense Minister Amir Peretz.
Sources in the DM's Office said Wednesday "the [eviction] orders will be handed to the settlers, even if the Prime Minister doesn't support this. We see no problem with the legal delays." The sources were quoted as saying that "this is an exceedingly important matter, which will have ramifications for the settlers' behavior in the future." They went on to say that Hevron's Jews have the financial means to buy additional houses, and this could "set the entire region on fire."
Peretz and Olmert are known to have a problematic working relationship, and often disagree on the degree of freedom of action Peretz is entitled to.
