Oslo Architect Ross Calls Rice 'Confused'

Dennis Ross, one of the chief architects of the Oslo Accords, wrote in the New Republic this week that American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is "confused" and has failed to define her objectives in the Middle East.

He also wrote that her assessment that Saudi Arabia's and Israel's common fear of Iran will bring peace is wrong. "For the Saudis, trying to wean Hamas away from Iran may be an important end in itself. But, for Israel, there can be no accommodating Hamas, which continues to reject Israel's right to exist," wrote Ross, a former senior American State Department official.
