The Ometz organization for Social and Legal justice filed a petition with Attorney General Menachem Mazuz on Thursday, asking him to stop the representation of the Winograd Commission by state attorneys. The state attorneys have been representing politicians and military officials in the Supreme Court, and recently represented the Winograd Commission as well.

Ometz explained that representing the Winograd Commission creates a conflict of interest for the attorneys, who represent politicians under investigation by Winograd as well. The attorneys originally agreed that they would not represent Winograd due to this conflict of interest, Ometz explained, but recently they violated that agreement. The violation could lead to failures in the investigation into Second Lebanon War blunders, Ometz argued.
