One of the largest demonstrations held in support of the shell-battered town of Sderot in the past two years took place Wednesday. About 1,500 people participated in a protest march organized by the Council for Sderot's Security, headed by Sderot resident Alon Davidi.
The event began opposite the Arab town of Beit Hanoun, and ended in Sderot, with performances by artists and speeches by politicians.
MK Effie Eitam (NU/NRP), a co-organizer, was pleased by the large attendance. "The message of Sderot's residents to the terrorists is that after the settlers of Gush Katif were uprooted, they will not be able to do the same to Sderot. The government has to act to return peace to the area.
