The British Parliament expressed concern recently over what it termed a “rising tide of anti-Semitic discourse” on university campuses. Also concerning, MPs said, are indications that anti-Semitism is becoming acceptable within certain sectors of British society.

A report issued by the Parliamentary Inquiry into anti-Semitism criticized calls from UK campuses to ban Israeli academics, calling them “an assault on academic freedom.” The report explained that in recent years, discussions of Israel and Zionism have devolved, with many using traditional anti-Semitic stereotypes to portray Israelis and their supporters.
