The IDF has been holding up a convoy of three buses carrying guests to a brit milah ceremony (ritual circumcision) that was set to be held among the ruins of the destroyed community of Homesh Tuesday afternoon.
Army officials had earlier agreed to allow the buses in for the ceremony although continued to block other vehicles from entering the area.
Activists marched on Monday to the site of the community, destroyed by former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s unilateral withdrawal, the 2005 Disengagement from Gaza and northern Samaria.
A number of marchers vowed to remain at the site and rebuild the former community. Defense Minister Amir Peretz said if they do not leave by Wednesay, IDF soldiers and police officers will forcibly remove the activists.
