A special police unit which combats cattle and agricultural theft caught a thief red handed late Thursday night.
The unit placed an ambush near Kibbutz Gat, in the Negev, in the hope of catching thieves. Several hours into the stakeout, a suspicious Mazda 3 was spotted, and when the driver was told to stop, he began driving away.
After a long chase, police apprehended a suspect – a resident of Yata, in the Palestinian Authority. Inside the car were five newborn calves. The Mazda is stolen and has been used by the thieves for several robberies in the area.
