The Ministerial Committee for ceremonies and symbols decided Wednesday that the 2006 conflict in the North be named the Second Lebanon War. The decision was made together with a second committee, headed by Prof. David Libai and appointed by the Minister of Defense. The name will be brought to the government Sunday for official ratification.

Earlier this week, it was decided that the conflict be officially called a war. Today, the committees decided between three competing names – "The War of the North", "Operation Northern Shield" and the name that was chosen.
