(IsraelNN.com) The Jerusalem Prize for Jewish Bravery was awarded Wednesday to the late Lt. Col. Emanuel Moreno, who was killed in Lebanon last summer. Moreno was an officer in Sayeret Matkal, the IDF's top infantry reconnaissance unit.

Speaking at the Jerusalem Conference, Chief Military Rabbi Brig. Gen. Avichai Ronsky said Moreno had walked in the footsteps of King David and the Hasmoneans. "In order to win by knockout and not by points," he said, "a hero like Emanuel Moreno is needed."

Moreno was killed in Baalbek, Lebanon. He was 35 years old. He left behind a widow and three children. His picture has never been published.
