The Citizenship Law will be renewed on Wednesday for a period of 15 months. The law forbids citizens of enemy nations to gain Israeli citizenship through marriage. Those not allowed to enter Israel after marriage include citizens of Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Lebanon. Arab residents of Palestinian Authority-controlled areas are limited in their ability to enter as well.

A Knesset committee met recently to discuss the law, and to make minor changes. The committee agreed to establish a second committee, which will judge specific cases. The committee also decided to allow those whose brother-in-law or nephew is involved in terrorist activities to enter the country.  Those with immediate family members who are involved in terrorism will be denied entrance.
