A parole board submitted a recommendation to the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court on Thursday in which they called on the court to cancel the conviction of former Justice Minister Chaim Ramon. Ramon was convicted in January of forcibly kissing a female soldier. The parole board asked that the offense be erased from his criminal record, and that his punishment be 180 days of community service.

The prosecution objected to the parole board’s recommendation, saying that Ramon should be held to high standards due to his status as a government minister. The prosecution called for Ramon to be sentenced to parole, and to be required to pay damages to the woman he kissed. They also requested that Ramon be forbidden from taking public office for a number of years.
