The United States and other world powers are increasingly close to using harsh sanctions against Iran. The sanctions could go into effect in the near future if Iran continues its nuclear development program.



The sanctions would include an embargo on Iranian weapons exports and a prohibition on loans to the Iranian government. Assets belonging to Iranian companies that are connected to the nuclear program would be frozen as well.
