Sunday is the 29th anniversary of the Coastal Road Massacre, in which Arab terrorists murdered 35 Israelis and injured 71. The attack was carried out by members of the Fatah organization.
On March 11th, 1978, the Fatah terrorists landed by boat near Maagan Michael, north of Tel Aviv. They ran into and murdered American photographer Gail Rubin, who was taking nature pictures at the time. Some of the terrorists then hijacked a bus and shot at passing cars out of the bus windows, killing four.
The other terrorists then forced additional passengers to board the bus. The bus was pursued and eventually stopped by an IDF unit headed by Ehud Barak. After a gun battle, the terrorists blew up the bus, creating a firetrap which killed many of the hostages.
