PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas has already reneged on three explicit promises he made to Israel, a senior diplomat in Jerusalem told Arutz 7/INN Thursday, ahead of a planned meeting between Abbas and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. The source says Abbas "is not trustworthy and his word cannot be depended upon."

Most recently, it turned out that funds which Israel gave Abbas on the express condition they would not go to the Hamas government, reached the Hamas government after all.

Earlier promises cited by the senior diplomat were Abbas's word to Israel that he would not support the "prisoners' document" formulated by Marwan Bargouti (he did so anyways) and a promise he would not enter a unity government with Hamas if the organization did not accept the Quartet's conditions.
