TV Channel 10 says it will show viewers a document which details the ways in which Olmert and his men used their power to help various Likud Central Assembly ("Merkaz") members. The document is two years old and dates to the period when Olmert was Minister of Commerce, Industry and Labor.
The document bears the names of 115 Likud "Merkaz" members. It reportedly shows that Olmert used the government offices under his control to heap benefits on more than 100 Merkaz members. Olmert's standing in Likud was shaky at the time, and currying favor with Merkaz members was allegedly Olmert's way of placing well in the primaries.
At the time, Olmert controlled the Investments Center, the Small Businesses Authority, the Employment Authority, the Israel Broadcasting Corporation, the Bezeq phone company and other centers of power.
