Muslim terrorist groups are focusing on North Africa to set up bases for mounting terrorist attacks, The New York Times reported, which named Algeria as once of the countries being used.



Terrorist groups, including those aligned with Al Qaeda, have claimed responsibility for seven simultaneous bombings in the country last week. A plan to attack American and British embassies in Tunis ended with gun battles that killed 12 terrorists and two Tunisian security officers.



American officials are particularly concerned because most European passport holders, including a new generation born to terrorists in Europe, can travel to the United States without a visa.
