Georgia Professors Protest Scheduled Speech by Carter
Eleven professors at Georgia's Emory University, located in the home state of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, have written a letter of protest against the scheduled appearance of Carter next week. He is to speak on his controversial book, Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid.
They said the appearance should be in the form of a debate and not a speech. "Jimmy Carter is a big boy," said Deborah Lipstadt, a professor in Modern Jewish and Holocaust Studies. "I would like to see Jimmy Carter saying he is willing to discuss it."
