The cabinet is expected at its weekly meeting Sunday morning to approve plans to privatize the Israel Electric Corporation (IEC).
A proposal submitted by Finance Minister Avraham Hirschson and National Infrastructure Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer divides the company into four subsidiaries by January 2008.
All four are expected to begin producing energy within a year, after which a new company will be formed to deliver electricity to customers around Israel.
