Karadi’s Term Will Not Be Renewed

(IsraelNN.com) Sources in the Interior Security Ministry say that Minister Avi Dichter is not planning to renew Moshe Karadi’s term as Police Commissioner. Karadi’s current term will expire in approximately six months, after three years of service.
Dichter reportedly met recently with several former officials from the IDF and the General Security Services. Ministry sources claim he encouraged some of them to consider the position of Police Commissioner.
The search for a new commissioner apparently began over a month before Sunday’s release of the Zeiler Commission’s report. The report, which condemned various police officers for their failure to take a firm stand against organized crime, included criticism of Karadi and the recommendation that his tenure not be renewed.
