Six Arabs have been arrested so far Friday in disturbances in Jerusalem. A Muslim was arrested after he attacked police officers by Lions Gate. The officers had blocked him from entering the Temple Mount, police said.
Near the Cotton Merchants Gate to the Temple Mount, another Arab youth was arrested and detained for further questioning after he tried to enter the Mount by force and attacked police officers. Four other Arabs were arrested in earlier incidents.
Temple Mount activist David Ha'Ivri issued a statement Friday decrying what he termed Israel's lack of sovereignty in Jerusalem after police decided to prevent Jews from holding the monthly march around the city walls. "Even around the gates of Jerusalem, it is Sheikh Salah who decides who will walk freely," Ha'Ivri said.
