Police representatives asked Wednesday for a restraining order preventing Sheikh Raad Salah of the Islamic Movement from entering Jerusalem for 60 days. Salah is on trial at the Magistrates' Court in Jerusalem, for assaulting police officers. He allegedly spit in the face of a police officer and shouted at him: "you are racists and murderers."
Salah arrived at the court accompanied by dozens of supporters. He said the timing of the court session was intended to hinder protests against the digging outside the Temple Mount, and especially to prevent the "Day of Emergency" being planned for this Friday.
