Crime Up Sixty Percent in PA

(IsraelNN.com) According to Palestinian Authority Police Chief Adnan Aldermeri, crime among the Arab population of Judea and Samaria rose sixty percent in the year 2006. Aldermeri blamed the problem in part on increasingly brazen militants. He also blamed the rival terrorist groups Hamas and Fatah, who each try to stockpile more weapons than the other, thus causing an increase in the price of weapons and ammunition.

According to Aldermeri, the approximately twenty thousand PA police officers in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza received over 16,600 complaints in 2006. Over 2,200 of the complaints were about robberies. It is suspected that many other crimes, particularly honor killings and family violence, went unreported.
