(IsraelNN.com) AG Menachem Mazuz has given the Israeli Police's economic unit permission to question Finance Minister Avraham Hirshzon "under caution" following a development in the investigation of "Nili" affair. At first, the police suspected Hirshzon only of knowing about embezzlement of funds by the head of the Nili nonprofit organization and not reporting them. Now, according to Haaretz, they suspect his role was "more meaningful."

A gag order has been issued regarding the suspicions against Hirshzon.

Nili's chairman, Ovadia Cohen, is suspected of embezzling 5.5 million NIS. Hirshzon was responsible for the organization as chairman of Histadrut Haovdim Haleumit.
