Syria, Lebanon Slam Proposed U.N. Resolution

(IsraelNN.com) (IsraelNN.com) Both Syria and Lebanon have rejected a proposed United Nations Security Council resolution drawn up by France and the United States. Lebanon demanded that the resolution include a clause forcing Israel to withdraw its forces from the country.

Syrian President Bashar Assad said the resolution would further destabilize the Middle East. However, American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said she would try to get the Security Council to pass the resolution by Tuesday, regardless of the opposition from Beirut and Damascus.
