(IsraelNN.com) The Hizbullah terrorist organization has taken care of social services for hundreds of thousands of Southern Lebanese who have been ignored by the Beirut government, according to a report in The New York Times. Hizbullah's social work parallels that of the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza area, where it supported people during the rule of former Fatah faction party leader Yasser Arafat.

Hizbullah's operations in Lebanon are more secretive, and operatives are like shadows whose identity is not known to many of the benefactors, according to the Times report. Hizbullah pays medical and school fees for Shi'ite Muslims and in return has won the loyalty of residents.
