(IsraelNN.com) Senior officials from terror organization Hamas were prevented by Border Police from meeting with two Israeli Arab MKs in Jerusalem on Thursday afternoon.

Jamal Zahalka and Wasil Taha, members of the Balad party, were to meet with Mohammed Abu Tir and several other Hamas members at the Palestinian Authority’s Ministry for Jerusalem Affairs.

When Border Police blocked the Hamas group from the entering the building, they and the Arab Israeli MKs took their meeting elsewhere.

Zahalka said the meeting was to be a show of support for four Hamas officials who are slated to have their Jerusalem residency stripped by the Israeli government in the wake of Monday’s terrorist bombing in Tel Aviv. “Members of Parliament have been living in Jerusalem before Israel occupied the territories and nobody has the right to expel them,” he said.

Hamas now leads the Palestinian Authority government. Attorney General Menahem Mazuz said earlier in the day that it would be legal to strip the four of their residency due to a specific combination of reasons. All are members of an organization deemed to be a terrorist group by the State of Israel, and all are leaders of a political entity other than Israel.
