The writer is a leading American pro-Israel activist who sponsors and coordinates many Zionist events. He is clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine (Gastroenterology & Liver Diseases) at the Einstein School of Medicine as well as a practicing physician.

President Obama is a shrewd and successful politician. He is a politician par excellence. His failure as President has very little to do with his political skills. His antipathy to Prime Minister Netanyahu is nothing new.

He has gone where no U.S. President has ever gone before with his mistreatment of the State of Israel and the Prime Minister. The President started his Presidency in Cairo. He set in motion the so called Arab Spring which has only brought instability and bloodshed to the Middle East. He is prepared to make a deal with Iran that will enable Iran to make a Nuclear Bomb.

ISIS is beheading Westerners and setting Jordanians on fire and the President is pre-occupied with deligitimizing the only Leader in the Middle East that actually is America's only reliable ally in the region. It has entered the theatre of the absurd. The President knows fully well when the AIPAC Conference takes place every year. He usually speaks there.

He has met with Bibi in the past around the time of the AIPAC Conference. It is inconceivable that the President did not know that Bibi was coming to America. The natural thing would have been to communicate schedules to each other. The President had to know beforehand that Bibi was planning to address Congress while here. The President obviously has a well thought out strategy to deligitimize the Prime Minister especially right before a critical election. The President cannot topple Assad of Syria, Putin of Russia, or the Mullah's of Iran but he feels strongly he can topple Bibi Netanyahu. This is why he is investing so much political capital in going after Bibi.

The list of Democrats not attending Bib's address to Congress is by far and a way a minority. The Vice President already has announced he will be elsewhere. Charlie Rangel and Gregory Meeks from New York have announced they will not be attending. Their loss. They should know better since they both have many Pro-Bibi supporters as friends. They obviously feel closer to the President than to their friends in New York. The Jewish People have a very long memory. The Jewish People will never forget those who did not attend what is a lecture of great significance at a time when the world faces its greatest danger since World War II.

It will be brought up in every up-coming election. For the record, every time the President has taken on Bibi he has lost. When he kept Bibi waiting for over an hour after tense talks to eat dinner cost the President. Every single Republican brought this up in their talks on Israel. One might say that the President lost Congress to the Republicans over this slight. His denying Israel's Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon meetings with Joe Biden, John Kerry and Susan Rice could have been a factor in his losing both Congress and the Senate in Nov. 2014. In my view the President is using playground antics in a world that is speedily getting very dangerous. Most rational people see the President's fight with Bibi childish and immature.

The Democrats who have run to side with the President on this are never going to live this one down. They still have to be re-elected. The President no longer has to worry about winning another election. They do. I would not put all my chips on a lame duck President. Bibi Netanyahu will be Prime Minister for many years to come. By then President Obama will be on a paid speaking tour somewhere overseas.
