While the violence continues and throughout the world terror is rampant, and while we here in Israel are still trying to catch our breath from the pain of the abduction and murders of Gil Ad, Naftalie, and Ayal HY"D, and the war that was forced upon us the UN continues the hatred only against Israel and the accusations of "acts against humanity".

Always when I take people out to show them the truth in the vital areas of our Land, Jerusalem, Yesha, I carry with me a Bible. Not just a Bible, but the Bible that was given to us at the Kotel along with the rifle when we were sworn in as Israeli soldiers of the IDF- please remember the name- "Israeli Defense Forces".

What other nation calls their army "Defense Forces?" Only we do- the Nation of Israel- because we fight to defend ourselves - to live and be safe and protect our Land and Nation.  In each Bible that is given to us soldiers there is a dedication written by the Chief Rabbi of the IDF. I wish to share the message with you.

"Soldiers of the Israeli Defense Forces

"The world stands on three things : on Torah on work and on charity" (Avot a b )

.....Dear soldiers,

This Book of Books is a source of life and inspiration, and it stands as a column of flame going before the camp of Israel.

Men of influence, warriers, spiritual and practical people, all as one draw their vision, wisdom and faith from this spring of life.

It is my hope and belief that "this Book of Torah will never leave you and will guide you day and night." (Yehoshua 1,8)

"Go with your strength and save Israel" (Shoftim 6, 14)

With Blessings

The Chief Rabbi of the Israeli Defense Forces"

What are we taught?  To live by the rules of our Torah, to defend ourselves and our Land.

It is an enormous privilege that we have when we put on the uniform of the IDF and fight to protect our Torah- history, our Land and people.

It is so easy to accuse us because the world refuses to acknowledge the truth that we are willing to expose ourselves to danger in order to try and save lives as we recently did in the battles in Gaza.  Knowing that this will give the enemy time to prepare while we are warning those innocent people who are being used as human shields by these terrorists. And yes, we paid a heartbreaking price with the precious lives of our soldiers who went in there and by doing so saved countless innocent Israeli lives from the planned terror infiltrations into our civilian communities.

We have this column of flame before us and with us now and always and will continue to live by the light of our Torah knowing how moral and important it is for us, the Jewish people to do so.
