The writer is a leading American pro-Israel activist who sponsors and coordinates many Zionist events. He is clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine (Gastroenterology & Liver Diseases) at the Einstein School of Medicine as well as a practicing physician.

Bruce Blakeman who was running for Congress in 2014 told me a fascinating story of how Paul McCartney defied his friend Roger Waters and traveled to Israel to perform despite the vociferous objections of the Pink Floyd co-founder.

Roger Waters is one of the leaders of the BDS (Boycott Divestment Sanctions) Movement against Israel. Performers from Alicia Keys to Britney Spears have followed Paul McCartney's lead and broken rank from the Water's Anti-Israel, Anti-Semitic crusade. Bruce had intimate details of how Paul McCartney told Waters to go fly a kite.

After all, Nancy Shevell who was formerly married to Bruce was marrying Paul McCartney. Her strong ties to Israel convinced McCartney of making the trip to the Holy Land. Unfortunately, 200 Reform Rabbis led by Rabbi Sharon Brous of LA, Rabbi Amy Eilberg of Los Altos, and Rabbi Jill Jacobs of T'ruah:The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights wrote a letter this past week had the Chutzpah to criticize Israel for its travel ban of members of the BDS Movement into Israel.

The letter was written in reaction to Israel's preventing Rabbi Alissa Wise of the Jewish Voice for Peace and a leader of the BDS Movement from entering Israel along with others of the BDS Movement. What is overlooked is that BDS is a very sophisticated and dangerous form of economic warfare against the State of Israel. It is important for members of Congress and the media to know that the Reform Movement in America is barely alive. The statistics on the Reform Movement don't lie. Merely 3 percent of Israeli Jews identify with the movement. Among American Jews only one in ten usually lights Shabbat candles. Only 7 percent keep a Kosher home. Rabbi Eric Yoffie who I have had bitter arguments with over the years admitted that the Reform Movement had produced the most Jewishly ignorant generation in history.

Reform Jews are also only having 1.7 children per family so eventually the Orthodox who have upwards of 4 children per family will form the majority of American Jews. The Reform Movement has been openly at odds with the Israeli population regarding Israel's security needs and the dangers of terrorism. Reform Rabbi Rick Jacobs served on the Board of Directors of the leftist J Street and the ultra-left New Israel Fund which donates to organizations supporting BDS.

The vast majority of Reform Jews go to the Synagogue only once per year on Yom Kippur. The majority have never even visited Israel. They do not represent Judaism, its heritage and its future. They have beautiful Synagogue edifices which are empty. The 200 Rabbis signed on the letter had the gall to to use the phrase "for the sake of heaven". It is a phrase reserved for the highest level of Halachic Discussion that is not even remotely applicable to this situation.

If BDS is left unchecked, Israel can be economically badly hurt which then impacts its very security. The only beneficiary are our enemies. Like Col. West said of J Street "with friends like J Street Israel doesn't need enemies".  The same can be said for the 200 Reform Rabbis who signed this letter.
