After the latest round of historical revisionism by the Arab world regarding the Temple Mount, Metal Detector Gate, and over a thousand Jews ascending on the Ninth of Av, I felt it was important to reach back in time and gain perspective. Much bears repeating because the media never seems to frame the Jewish eternal ownership of the Temple Mount in a proper manner.

For starters the Muslim world considers Mecca and Medina their one and two most Holy Sites. As a matter of fact the Arabs  turn their backs on the Mosque of Omar and pray towards Mecca. By the way there are metal detectors in Mecca. Although the modern day Muslims inspired by Yasir Arafat deny that the two Jewish Temples stood on the Temple Mount that was not always the case. In the 13th century Ibn Tymiyyah said that "Al-Magjidal Aqsa is the name of the whole place of worship built by Solomon".

He even strongly opposed giving religious sanctity to the mosques on the Temple Mount because it would detract from the sanctity of Mecca and Medina. Further the Arabic words Al-Quds is a reference to the Hebrew word "Mikdash" which relates to the Jewish Holy Temple. The media never mentions this. They continue the lie that Arafat perpetrated about the Temple Mount and that UNESCO embraced.

After Arab terrorists were found to have used the Al-Aqsa Mosque as a staging area and storage facility for their Carl Gustav automatic weapons to kill two Israeli Druse Policemen metal detectors were put up. This also came on the heels of the murder of Policewoman Sgt. Hadas Malka. Although she was stabbed to death, the Carl Gustav machine guns were used in the attack. Israel has every right to do what it pleases to protect itself against such horrors. This all brings me to the time I asked Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to build a Synagogue on the Temple Mount. The year was 2002 and I was invited to a private dinner at the home of a prominent philanthropist in Manhattan with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

The host was aware of what I was planning and indeed said he would fund the project. Turns out Ariel Sharon was elected Prime Minister after he visited the Temple Mount in 2000. This was a front page story around the world. Even he admitted that his visit to the Temple Mount got him elected. When I spoke with him in 2002, I mentioned this and also that his name "Ariel" referred to the "Altar" which was the cornerstone of the Holy Temple. He did not say "no" to me. Others had approached him with the same request including Uri Ariel who was a member of Knesset at the time and presently is Minister of Agriculture. In 2006 he called for the building of a Synagogue on the Temple Mount.

Prime Minister Sharon seriously considered doing this but never had the chance to make it happen. I mentioned this to Prime Minister Netanyahu in 2003 when he was not the Prime Minister but a Member of the Knesset. I am sure in his heart he would like to do this but the international pressure has only increased since our discussion.

President Trump could change the whole narrative if he so desired. His supporters certainly had hoped he would. Time will tell. At the moment he seems to be following in the footsteps of his predecessors with definite positive modifications which I will elaborate on in the future. That could all change in an instant. I hope and pray that we don't have to wait too long.
