Poetry Submission: Israeli Politicians

Israeli Politicians
by Brandon Marlon

Sergeants of surrender
Captains of capitulation
Admirals of appeasement
Lead a split nitwit populace to doom
One bomb and rocket at a time
On Heaven’s chosen dime

Lefty antics of self-destructive smut
Collapse dreams of other brothers
More in tune with self-love than self-hate
Enough to make an Israel-lover irate

At the grossly ignoble state of the State
That nowadays looks to be a finite experiment

Jews need a righteous Judge or pious King
A poetic Prophet and humble High Priest
Leaders who are clear, bold and decisive
Un-plagued by modern moral ambiguity

Unencumbered by self-defeatism and stupidity
Willing to stand their ground on their ground

I hope I live to see that very day
I wish for it privately as others pray
But no breath will be held for such drastic change
For such a radical fantasy far out of range

Elected Israelis are but fools of the hour
Lacking the longevity of a higher power

Poetry Submission: Tears of Yosef by Aviya bat Avraham

The Tears of Yosef
by Aviya bat Avraham

"What do you seek?" the man asked.
"My brothers do I seek; tell me please where they are?" Yosef asked.
"They have journeyed from here" the man replied.
So Yosef went after and found his brothers.

They saw Yosef from afar.
And conspired to kill him.
And they said to one another, "Look the dreamer is coming!"
So now, come let us kill him and throw him in a pit.

And so it was, when Yosef came to his brothers,
They stripped Yosef of his tunic,
They took him and cast him into the pit;
Without knowing of serpents and scorpions in it.

Amidst Yosef's bitter and wailing cries,
His brothers sat and eat.
Behold! a caravan of Ismaelites;
And sold Yosef to the Ismaelites for twenty pieces of silver.

Just as the caravan gleefuly journeyed,
The bitter cries of Yosef becomes the river of tears
That continue to flow in our days;
Screeming in bitterness and pain.

So long, my father Yaacov,
So long, my brother Binyamin,
So long, Israel my home,
So long, till this journey of pain is over.

My brothers, why are you doing this to me? Yosef asked.
My brothers, why have you sold us? the Cantonist asked.
My brothers, why have you uprooted our homes from our heritage - the Land of Israel? the Jewish settlers asked.
My brothers, why are you acting at our enemies side? the faithful Zionist asked.

Until when, O leftist, anti-Zionist and foolish leaders of Israel,
Until when, will you sit and eat blindly and deafly?
Until when, will you take pity on your brother Yosef?
Until when, will you O Yaccov sons come and wipe the tears of your brother Yosef?

Poetry Submission: Wanderers No More by Yehoshua Dalin

Wanderers No More
by Yehoshua Dalin

Since the first Temple’s burning
And the banishment of our nation
So our people, turned to yearning
To return to our proper station

Our ethos, and our life
Came to ebb, with the loss of our throne
And the stillness of G-d’s people
Came to stink, of dry bones

When our dry bones turned to dust
And the dust, to disappear
The words of the Infinite
Made us Live! Bade us Hear!

And the dust turned into bone
On it sinew burst anew
In the only place worth being
As a nation, as a Jew

So come join me, fellow Jews, and
Let us dance upon the land
Let the desert rise to greet us
With the blossoms of our hand

We will burn the rags of exile
We will bind this open sore
We will shed this domicile
And be wanderers no more!
