After Cigar-gate: Careful what you wish for
After Cigar-gate: Careful what you wish for

After Netanyahu – then what?

He survived the eight inglorious years of Obama – the most anti-Israel president since Jimmy Carter. For that alone, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu deserves a medal…even a cigar.

Netanyahu went toe to toe against Obama, and from the fire emerged unscathed. Better yet, during all that time, while Obama schemed behind his back, Netanyahu kept Israel in one piece.

Even better, he kept Israel at peace – relatively so considering that Israel faces enemies from within and from all sides.

So… why the rejoicing when the leader’s pain hurts the entire nation?

But there is no figuring Leftists.

We don’t know what the hell they want, neither in the United States, nor in Israel.

So here and there they’re dancing over Netanyahu’s misfortune at being charged by the Police for misconduct…to the point where the Police recommend he be indicted…which is not enough for his enemies. Over what I call Cigar-Gate, and what Martin Sherman marvelously details as a coup d’état, they want him out Now, this minute.

The Left along with some backstabbers from the Right, prompted and cheered on by the media—all are in it together to have him unseated, auto da fe’-style.

The media (especially) have been judging him, prosecuting him, nitpicking him and hanging him from day one, come rain or come shine. It’s been brutal and it’s been personal.

(For the inside story and scoop on media bias and manipulation, reviewers recommend the New York to Israel newsroom thriller “The Bathsheba Deadline.”)

What does this sound like? It sounds like America. Over here, for our Leftists it’s impeachment against President Trump that they’ve been hankering from the moment he was sworn in.

In both countries, the Left operates the same…and it goes like this –

After they lose an election, they go straight to the lawyers to undo the will of the people. The ballots be damned.

That’s because the Left ALWAYS KNOWS BEST and this, in Israel, they know for sure, that Arabs come first, Jews/Israelis, second.

Which is America all over again, as we watch Nancy Pelosi weep for illegal immigrants without a single tear for American citizens who’ve been killed by illegal immigrants.

Switch to Israel and find opposition leader Isaac Herzog campaign for the one cause apparently central to the Left – how to keep the Arabs, not the Jews – snug and happy…and not just the “Palestinians.” Herzog is ready to “make peace” by offering Saudi Arabia “a special role” at the Temple Mount – which (thanks to Moshe Dayan) is already in the hands of Jordan’s waqf.

Herzog’s offer amazed everyone, mostly the Saudis.

Someone needs to clue the Left that there is no such thing as absolute peace…anywhere…and that between Israel and its neighbors it’s pretty much as good as it gets.

But for Leftists, enough is never enough. They always want MORE peace…more deals…more land swaps…more bargains favoring the Arabs…more concessions.

Is this really what Israel wants, speaking here of the multitude that rallied in Tel Aviv for Netanyahu’s immediate departure. “A distressing sound do I hear!” cries out Moses at his approach to the rally for the Golden Calf in the Biblical portion of Ki Sisa. Be careful what you wish for was the message then, as it is today.

Israel has seldom been in better shape. On the world stage. Netanyahu stands tall. In India he’s greeted like royalty. This reflects upon the entire Jewish State.

Trump and Netanyahu: It’s as if the region’s leading power and the world’s super power were brought together as a team through an act by the Highest Power.
In America, finally a friend, and a true friend in Trump…and through Trump, and Nikki Haley, the mirage of a “Palestinian cause” has been shattered even at the UN.

The Europeans are diminished and confounded by a resurgent America, which gives Israel leverage it never had before.

It’s as if the region’s leading power and the world’s super power were brought together as a team through an act by the Highest Power.

What perfect timing to have him stay. What awful timing to have him go – and for whom, for what as his replacement?
