Do not say I love Israel BUT

You are one voice. To make yours count, you have to be a warrior. You have to be a lion. If you are a lamb the Internet will eat you up.

Most of the letters I get from my columns or books are pretty all right…but I also get them asking why I remain such a stickler for America, Israel and Trump.

Why am I so “one-sided” and why can’t I see the “other side” once in a while?

Mainly, I have to say, at this point in our culture, so fractured, so over-heated, so mean-spirited, there is no choice but to pick your side and stick to it without qualms.…no dithering.

Dithering is for philosophers. Writing about the events of the day – as a columnist -- demands a clear decisive point of view…and let the chips fall where they may.

I’ve made my choice.

There was a time, I imagine, when a columnist could light up his pipe (I’m thinking of Mencken and even Michel de Montaigne) and consider all sides of the argument.

Those days are gone. The world has become too split and too crazy…and everybody has an opinion about it on Facebook and Twitter.

Plus, the Left won’t extend a hand or give an inch. Why should you?

You are one voice. To make yours count, you have to be a warrior. You have to be a lion. If you are a lamb the Internet will eat you up.

Having it both ways makes you lost in the wilderness of opinions. In a most dramatic moment from the newsroom thriller “The Bathsheba Deadline,” the young hot shot reporter tells editor Jay Garfield that (at the beheading of Daniel Pearl) it is too late in the day to be neutral. One day – this day! – he will have to be counted…in or out.

That’s pretty much it these days – in or out. There is no middle.
That’s pretty much it these days – in or out. There is no middle.

One particular reader asked how can I be so one hundred percent? Are there no flaws in America…no imperfections in Trump…no defects in Israel?

On Trump, do you really need me for a dissenting point of view? You’ve already got the Democrats and the entire mainstream media for that, so no thanks. I’m taking my chances with Trump all the way. Did so from the start, as did most of us here at Arutz Sheva, and each day proves more and more that we picked a winner.

Is he perfect? Compared to Obama, yes.

As for America, are we perfect? Compared to the 128 s-hole countries who voted against us at the UN, Dec. 22 – YES! We are perfect.

Plus, do you really need me to pile on against America when you’ve already got the media, which laughs at Trump for asking Americans to respect the flag.

On Israel, who’s to judge? Europe? Are you kidding? The UN? Please…and let’s not get started on the Muslim world, whose values (in too many cases) remain 16th century.

Compared to all that, yes, Israel is perfect…a perfection glorified by the fact that (like the United States) it is a giver in a world of takers.

Not from me will you hear, “I love Israel, BUT.”

That is how Liberals and even some Conservatives “defend” the Jewish State. They say they love Israel, BUT…

This disqualifies you on the spot. In love, there is no BUT…no half measures.

In or out, period.
