During Donald Trump’s candidacy for the American presidency, the elite were aghast, the media went berserk, and the polls were biased favoring Hillary Clinton. American voters took Trump seriously without taking his words literally, whereas American elite took his words literally and never took him seriously. Democratic National Committee’s leaders rigged the system and leaked debate questions to Hillary. The Democrats would have done better with Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren. They needed a candidate that could connect with people, not with despotic dictators, investment bankers, and Lady Gaga.
The Obama way has failed, and Hillary would have been more of the same; thus she could never have been elected president. She collapsed her credibility and self-deleted her purported presidency. Moreover, she is not a friend of Israel.
Hillary said she was “shattering the glass ceiling” for women. She was not shattering anything. She was never Golda Meir or Margaret Thatcher. She is the wife of a previous president, which is common in banana republics and should be embarrassing to any genuine “progressive” or “feminist.” Even Time magazine recalled its “Madam President” issue. Many Democrats simply want a “woman” to be the U.S. president, and Hillary is the best-known woman in politics, though by no means the best qualified.
The intervention of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama in Libya and Egypt undermined governments that were no threat to American interests, leading to terrorist chaos in Libya and Islamic extremists taking over in Egypt. Fortunately, contrary to American foreign policy, the Egyptian military got rid of the extremist government that persecuted Christians, threatened Israel, and aligned itself with America’s enemies.
Libya, as a failed policy, belonged to Hillary as much as to Obama. According to the emails she chose to release from her private email server, Libya was supposed to be her great accomplishment as Secretary of State; she would knock off Qaddafi and get a big foreign policy triumph. Instead, because she gave it no further thought except in terms of political benefit to her, she left a failed state in Libya. This resulted in Libyan ports being controlled by ISIS and used to flood the shores of Greece and Italy with migrants, destabilizing them and other European countries. Obama and Hillary turned Libya into not only just another failed state, but a failed state that destabilizes American allies.
Obama alienated America’s friends and emboldened America’s enemies. He surrendered Iraq, in whose cause so many young Americans died, to America’s enemy, Iran. He launched his radical foreign policy in Cairo, now often aflame with anti-American protests; he offered the Muslim world “a new beginning.” By this, he meant not a Muslim new beginning but an American change of heart. According to public opinion polls, his appeasement of Islamic rage has led to a situation in which America is more hated today in the Middle East than it was at the height of the war in Iraq.
Under Obama’s watch, Iran signed a nuclear agreement with the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council—China, France, Russia, United Kingdom, United States—plus Germany and the European Union. The details of the agreement are irrelevant, when compared to the
His administration’s leakage of Israel’s secret agreement with Azerbaijan, allowing Israeli warplanes to refuel if attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities, sabotaged any Israeli attempt to destroy Iranian facilities.two irrefutable aspects: Iran will develop nuclear weapons and the ayatollahs will get $150 billion.
Obama’s years-long negotiations with Iran allowed time to multiply, disperse, and fortify Iran’s nuclear facilities. His administration’s leakage of Israel’s secret agreement with Azerbaijan, allowing Israeli warplanes to refuel if attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities, sabotaged any Israeli attempt to destroy Iranian facilities.
Hillary Clinton supported the treaty of catastrophe and even takes credit for initiating it while she was Secretary of State. Hillary and Obama own the Iran nuclear deal and could not acknowledge its status as one of America’s greatest foreign policy failures. Donald Trump has described the agreement as a disaster which places the entire world at risk. He recognizes that America still holds enormous leverage over Iran and has pledged to impose better terms upon Iran or cancel the agreement altogether.
The Iran nuclear agreement was one of Obama’s gross misjudgments about the Middle East, going back to his Senate days, when he vehemently opposed the military “surge” that crushed the terrorist insurgency in Iraq, as then-Senator Hillary Clinton also did.
Things could have been done differently in Iraq; however, in the end President Bush listened to his generals and launched the military surge that crushed the terrorist insurgents and made Iraq a viable country. Despite the mistakes made, Iraq was a viable country when Obama came into office until he pulled out all American troops, ignoring his own military advisers that wanted him to negotiate extending their agreement to stay, just so he could claim to have restored “peace,” when in fact he invited defeat.
Obama’s sympathies lie with Islam. In 2009, when he met King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia at a G-20 summit, he deeply bowed in subservience to the “Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.” In the 2009 Iranian Green Movement, in which protesters demanded the removal of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad from office, Obama sided with the ayatollahs. His administration was intent on “engagement” with the world’s most dangerous regime and vilest state-sponsor of terrorism, cutting funding to organizations supporting Iranian human rights, and then sat by as thousands of Iranians were imprisoned, tortured and executed.
Obama’s reaction to the Arab Spring was to drop allies who were in trouble, in the hope of making himself look good. His reorientation of America's Middle East policy benefited Iran, but disadvantaged America’s allies: Israel, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and other Sunni monarchies. Obama drew a “red line” because, he said, Syria was using chemical weapons and weapons of mass destruction (WMD) are evil. Bashar al-Assad crossed the red line, but Obama did nothing, because bombing might make him look bad.
Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, Iraq, Islamic State, Libya, Syria and Yemen are the dark forces in Israel’s neighborhood. They could have looked different today had Obama not betrayed America’s democratic values with his administration’s “smart power.” Obama sought to put distance diplomatically between America and Israel, demanded reckless concessions from Israel to promote “peace talks” while never making serious demands of the Palestinian Authority or ever holding it accountable, granted legitimacy to George Soros-sponsored J Street, questioned Israel’s commitment to its American alliance, rejected the legitimacy of all Jewish construction across the Green Line, even in Jerusalem, and berated Binyamin Netanyahu publicly for announcing Jerusalem home building.
Under Obama, the promotion of anti-Semitism shaped America’s Israel policy. Netanyahu infuriated Obama when he talked about the truth of the internationally supported Palestinian Arab demand that Israel must transfer control over Jerusalem and the 'Territories' to the Palestinian Arabs Jew-free. From inception, the Obama administration rejected the civil rights of Jews as Jews in these areas and seeks the complete negation of their rights through destruction, mass expulsion, and property seizure: ethnic cleansing.
Donald Trump has a different approach. He told the Wall Street Journal that he hoped to help craft a resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which he called “the war that never ends,” by striking “the ultimate deal.” “As a deal-maker, I’d like to do… the deal that can’t be made. And do it for humanity’s sake,” he said. Trump knows that Israelis want peace, and he trusts them to pursue it as well they can without pressure from America. He recognizes that Palestinian Authority failed leadership, hatred and violence pose challenges to any peace deal. He would not expect Israelis to conduct their lives based upon the wishful thinking that the Palestinians will change.
Republicans were dismayed by Obama’s stimulus package for cronies, and his move toward government-run health care. Since his inauguration, he used his office to seize powers no president had ever dared to claim. Republicans, who were affected most by the damage his policies caused, expected their presidential nominees and congressional representatives to protect them, and curb Obama’s perceived abuses at the border with Mexico, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Internal Revenue Service, the Justice Department, the healthcare industry, the military, the State Department and beyond.
In the 2008 and 2012 elections, millions of Republican voters were appalled by the refusal of their nominees to go on the offensive against Obama. In 2008, John McCain refused to mention Obama’s deep and longstanding alliances with radicals, including his decades’ long relationship with his pastor, Jeremiah Wright, who regularly preached hatred for America from his pulpit. In 2012, Mitt Romney could not make a competent case against Obama, or withstand media criticism he should have expected as the Republican nominee. After their party’s defeat, Republican voters noted that their candidates cared more about what media said about them than they cared about winning.
Republican voters were more horrified about their congressional leadership. In the 2010 and 2014 congressional elections, Republicans had big wins in both houses of Congress. The voters’ clear wish was for their lawmakers to curtail Obama’s excesses. Instead, the Republican congressional leadership denigrated and disparaged their own voters while failing to check Obama’s perceived abuse of power.
Trump was elected to be the Republican presidential nominee because he is the opposite of McCain, Romney, and their counterparts in the Republican congressional leadership. Trump did not merely run against Democrats and the liberal establishment. He ran against the Republican establishment as well. He won the American presidential election against their opposition, while spending a fifth of what Hillary spent.
The American establishment understood that Trump was a grave threat to their power and attacked him accordingly. What they did not understand was that he goaded them into a fight that they could only lose: The elite thought the issue was Trump; American voters thought the issue was the elite. Trump proved one can win the presidency without being a Bush, a Clinton, or a member of the political class. He won without the consultant class, without donors, without field offices, without the support of party's office-holders, etc. His winning led to the biggest Republican Party victory since the 1920s. Even if American voters were concerned about some of the things he said, the statements were never going to take priority over Obama’s legacy on the economy, foreign policy, etc.
President Obama treated neighborhoods in Jerusalem as controversial, promoting anti-Jewish discrimination; pulled U.S. troops out of Iraq rather than negotiating extending their agreement to stay, inviting defeat; mishandled Libya, getting a U.S. ambassador and three others killed and paraded by al-Qaeda; urged Mubarak to go, getting him replaced by the radical Muslim Brothers; set “Red Line” against WMD usage in Syria that was breached without consequences; asserted that “al-Qaeda is on the run;” dismissed Islamic State as a “JV” [Junior Varsity] team; and claimed Yemen as a counterterrorism success story, a failed state where rivals Saudi Arabia and Iran are pitted against one another in a proxy war, providing room in the Arabian Peninsula for the Islamic State and al-Qaeda.
In 2008, Obama’s election slogan was “Yes, we can!” He wanted to move America politically leftwards, permanently. Before his inauguration, he told a crowd of cheering supporters: “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.” Campaigning in 2016, he stated that even though he was not on the ballot, his legacy was. The 2016 election was not about Trump per se, but stopping Obama’s “you didn't build that” neo-socialism, and stopping the radical transformation of American foreign policy, including the reorientation of America’s Middle East policy in favor of the ayatollahs, to make Iran the regional superpower in the Middle East, disadvantaging America’s traditional allies: Israel, Egypt, and the Sunni Arab monarchies.
The election determined the fate of Obama’s fundamental transformation that could have been irreversible if Hillary had won. Another four years of business as usual would have pushed America past the point of no return. Disaster averted: she could not impress voters over immigration, jobs, national security and terrorism, so the voters looked elsewhere.
Yes, we can: Trump’s voters have canned Barack Obama’s legacy like diced vegetables.
