Give Trump a Chance
Give Trump a Chance

The year: 1965. The place: The Knesset. On the stage: Levi Eshkol-Prime Minister of Israel. In front of him sat a member of the Opposition: MK David Ben Gurion.

Under daily attack by Ben Gurion and his colleagues, Eshkol called upon Ben Gurion to "Give me some credit".

After Donald Trump was elected President-Elect the of the United States of America and after reading the mounting criticism against him which includes black prophecies about his performance, I want to reflect upon Levi Eshkol's words and call upon my friends here in Israel and around the globe to "Give Mr. Trump some credit. Please give him a chance ".

I do feel certain his dreams for America and for the wellness of the world are positive and sincere in nature.
In my discussions with friends who supported Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, I try to relay my theory that an individual who became a billionaire in business, entered the political arena and won a presidential election is far from being an ignorant, hot-tempered individual determined only to please his own ego without concern for his country.

Yes, I disagree with the newly-elected president on many issues. I do not share with him many of his ideas, including numerous statements about minorities and women. But I do feel certain his dreams for America and for the wellness of the world are positive and sincere in nature.

Maybe the new President will modify priorities. Maybe he will concentrate on the war against terror, terrorism and terrorists.

Maybe he will calm down the crazy race for globalism. While I am not sure where and on which issues he will succeed, I am sure we should give him a chance.

It is a global interest to have America great again. Is it possible? Yes. Will President-Elect Trump's policies be the right ones to achieve this goal? Let's hope and pray so.

Automatic criticism is not a basis for policy. If we really want the best for our children and our children's children, we must look forward to the future. This is the message I received frequently from my mentor, President Shimon Peres, z'l. In the spirit of Levi Eshkol's request of David Ben Gurion, I believe we should give President-Elect Trump some credit.
