The Arab press internet gateway, Albawaba.com, contains a report questioning whether or not Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is planning to carry out a transfer of Arabs under Israeli control under the cover of an initiated war.

The article opens by reporting that ?Israeli analysts warned that Ariel Sharon?s plans might continue to ignite the situation at the borders with Syria, Lebanon and even Egypt in order to begin the implementation of his plans of mass transfer of Palestinians to Lebanon, Jordan and Gaza.? Albawaba.com then makes use of a Jordanian analyst, Sultan al-Hattab, who ?thinks the Israeli warning is somewhat true, particularly in view of the fact that Sharon is facing a real crisis now.... Sharon is spurred to export his crisis by launching an aggression outside the borders through claiming that armed groups cross the borders as a justification for the attack.? According to the Jordanian analyst, Prime Minister Sharon has been prevented from carrying out mass transfer of Arabs only because the Arab countries to which they would be forced to go signed peace agreements with Israel. ?Sharon destroyed Oslo accord,? al-Hattab is quoted as saying, ?and it won?t be a surprise if he destroys the peace agreements with other Arab countries.?

Al-Hattab also told Albawaba.com that Sharon?s ?brutal and disastrous aggression against the Palestinians... has paralyzed the Arab regimes and crippled them from taking any actions that would stop him.? This paralysis, al-Hattab analyzed, ?may aggravate tension among the public and therefore lead to more radicalism. This way more radical groups will emerge in the Arab world in order to prove that they still exist and lead to a situation where the Arab regimes will not be able to control violence or meet the aspirations of their people. Therefore I believe if Sharon continues with his aggression against the Palestinians, the fragile situation in the Arab world will explode in the forthcoming summer.?

Albawaba.com also brings another point of view from another Arab analyst: ?On the other hand, political analyst Basem Sakkijha believes that Sharon?s actions are his last bullets, which may reach Syria or Lebanon, but on a limited scale. These will be the bullets for his suicide and the formation of an independent Palestinian state.? As for transfer, Sakkijha said, ?This is an old dream for Sharon, but cannot be implemented these days for local, regional and international reasons. It is almost impossible but an internal transfer within the Palestinian territories may be possible.?

Regarding the US stance in the Middle East, the latter analyst concurs with and refers to a New York Times article. He says, ?the American stance stems from the coalition between the oil and arms industries, which control the US these days, as described by Al Gore Wednesday in the New York Times.?
