The good news is that people are still buying and reading books. The bad news is that the wrong people keep writing and selling books.
Jewish voters stopped thinking for themselves from FDR onward. We think FDR is still in office. Nobody told us that he left.Does anybody remember Hemingway? Well forget Hemingway. People named Obama and Clinton produce today’s bestsellers.
Obama’s books made him rich…made him famous…made him president.
Hillary is using pretty much the same trick on her “road to the White House.”
So now we await the latest book -- “Hard Choices” -- from the world’s most uninteresting woman. Is it to be listed under fiction when it comes out in a couple of weeks? That would help since even her friends (MSNBC) cannot name a single real achievement of hers in all her years as secretary of state.
But she is not shy about taking the money. She got an $8 million advance from Simon and Schuster for her 2003 autobiography and I do hear $15 million for this lovely teapot? Her husband got $15 million for one of his books.
Struggling writers can only read that and weep, as they have no chance for a penny after a publisher has depleted its budget in favor of non-writer.
Thousands of writers are destined to remain stillborn so that Hillary and a few other fatted celebrities can reap all the rewards.
Not since Mark Twain’s latest installment of Huckleberry Finn or anything from Stephen King has there been as much anticipation for a book.
Washington is abuzz. So is the rest of America where people can vote. For this is not about reading. It’s about balloting.
She already warns that this book is not for or about Washington Insiders.
No…no…no! It’s for the people. The little people. Hard-working Americans. She cares. She feels your pain.
But if it’s three o’clock in the morning and you are being attacked by Muslim terrorists in Benghazi or anywhere, do not expect her to pick up the phone.
What difference does it make?
Over the years there has been an epidemic of book writing from public figures and this has to stop. Most politicians and entertainers use ghostwriters anyway.
Writing takes too much time. Let somebody else do the dishes.
So did she write the book herself – or did it take a village?
On foreign policy, like Iraq and Afghanistan, she takes the middle ground. In other words, she is in favor of everything and she is against everything. Whichever way it turns out she’ll take the credit and collect.
On Israel, she is a deep and loyal friend, as they all are before they get in.
Remember, along the campaign trail it was Hillary who said that Obama is Israel’s best friend.
Proof that a sucker is born every minute; a million copies have already been pre-ordered of this book of hers. F. Scott Fitzgerald’s last royalty payment was $6.22.
She gets standing ovations when she speaks before Jewish groups – and why? Politically, it has been a case of arrested development.
Jewish voters stopped thinking for themselves from FDR onward. We think FDR is still in office. Nobody told us that he left.
The Jewish State needs to be prepared for the worst just in case. Here she is in 2009: ‘We believe that through good-faith negotiations the parties can mutually agree on an outcome which ends the conflict and reconciles the Palestinian goal of an independent and viable state based on the 1967 lines…”
Those are the Auschwitz borders.
Make no mistake. She is running for president and there is a damned reasonable chance that she gets the White House.
Imagine four more years with Eric Holder and John Kerry. Or maybe she’ll bring in her own crooks.
She has visited 112 countries, more than any other secretary of state and has come back none the wiser.
Or as we used to say – you can lead a cow around the world and when it comes back it is still a cow.
Sometimes we get lucky. We get a good president following a bad president. Reagan after Carter, for example.
Hillary after Obama would be more of the same and that means the nightmare will continue.
