Thoughts on the Torah portion from Reb Shlomo Carlebach, z"l.

Rabbi Shlomo Katz

Umaekalelcha A'or - I will A'or those who curse you.
These two powerful words are part of the promise made to Avraham Avinu by the One Above. But what does A'or mean?
We usually translate it as 'I will curse those who curse you', but everyone knows that 'A'or' also comes from the word 'Or', light.
Punishing evil with with more darkness makes evil feel at home, but in this week's video we learn that surrounding evil with light is a much heavier punishment.
Welcome to one of the strangest characters in the Torah, Bila'am.
Have a beautiful Shabbos.
