(12 December – 21:40) Two persons, a male and a female, were murdered tonight in the holy city of Hevron shortly after 8:00pm. Terrorist gunfire rang out on Worshippers Path , the route that connects Kiryat Arba and Hevron, near the Ma'arat HaMachpela (Cave of the Patriarchs).
Emergency medical personnel pronounced one victim dead on the scene. The second victim was pronounced dead in the ambulance en route to Jerusalem's Hadassah trauma unit.
The location of the attack is the same where 12 persons, [9 soldiers and border policemen and 3 first-response unit personnel], were gunned down by terrorists. The army was recently prevented from moving ahead with steps to improve security conditions on the path by a High Court of Justice restraining order, the result of a petition from the political left wing.
At this time, a manhunt for the terrorist(s) continues. Earlier there were reports that army forces were surrounding Arab homes believed used as part of the escape route for the perpetrator(s) of tonight's attack.
