Head of Central Command, Major General Roni Numa, has signed an order to establish a municipal services administration for the Jewish community in Hevron.

By virtue of the order, a directorate will be established to represent the residents of the Jewish community in Hevron and provide them with municipal services in various fields.

For many years, the Hevron Jewish community operated a municipal committee that served as a sort of local authority, but until the present order, the matter was not officially regulated.

The order was signed at the end of a staff meeting with representatives of the Military Advocate General's Office, the Civil Administration, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of the Interior.

Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked and Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman led the process that resulted in a regulated municipal status for the Jewish community in Hevron.
