On Wednesday, 20 haredi paratroopers held their first parachute jump after completing a parachuting course at the Palmachim Air Force base on the southern coastal plain.

All 20 successfully passed the jump. The soldiers are members of the second draft cycle of the haredi “Hetz” unit in the 202nd Battalion of the Paratroopers Brigade.

The Rabbis of the Netzach Yehuda Foundation, who are accompanying the haredi paratroopers, said: "Along with the arduous training, all the soldiers are strict about prayers and about setting times for Torah."

"Of course, it is superfluous to note the strictness of the new unit regarding every mitzvah, great and small. They are involved in so-called parachute ‘dives’ but, from a spiritual perspective, we actually see them as ‘sons of ascension.’”
