Forces from the IDF's Arayot Hayarden (lit. the Lions of Jordan) Unit, the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) and the Israel Police on Tuesday night seized weapons that were smuggled from Jordan into Israel.

During the operation, the forces seized 20 guns, five M16-type rifles and parts of weapons along the border.

As well, two Palestinian Arab suspects were arrested on the Israeli side of the border and taken in for questioning.

The seizing of the smuggled weapons was made possible through intelligence information.

Israeli security forces regularly carry out operations to prevent smuggling of weapons.

In 2014, Jordan apprehended a secret military organization within the Jordanian Muslim Brotherhood, whose goal was to purchase weapons and then smuggle them into the Palestinian Authority.

At the time, sources said Israel had provided Jordan with information that enabled the arrest of the group.
