The current wave of Arab terror has continued for over three months, and has kept up a steady pace of attacks which often occur multiple times per day.
So far there have been close to 1,000 security incidents since the middle of September when the attacks began. Of those, 296 incidents included injuries or fatalities. 29 Jews have been killed and 491 injured, of whom 342 have been civilians.
Analyst Nehemia Gershuni Eliyahu of Walla! News organized the statistics, which include attempted car-ramming attacks, shootings, firebombings, stabbings and arrests of those carrying knives, attacks are based on a nationalistic background, and rock-throwing attacks wherein there were injuries on any level.
In September the majority of attacks were rock throwing and firebomb attacks. During that time, 38 of the 89 attacks took place in eastern Jerusalem.
ctober was the most violent month of the current wave of terror during which 420 attacks were perpetrated. These attacks included 156 firebombings, 79 rock-throwing attacks, 41 shooting attacks, and five car-ramming attacks. October also saw a rise in knife attacks, and arrests made of individuals carrying an illegal knife, from four incidents in September to 78 such attacks and incidents in October.
November and December saw a dramatic decline in the number of terror attacks, except for car-ramming attacks which more than doubled to total of 12 in November and 11 in December, as opposed to five during the month of October.
Rock throwing attacks diminished by 67 percent and the number of shooting attacks lessened by half. The amount of stabbing attacks also diminished, from 78 in October, to 40 in November. In December the trend continued to decline t a total of only 31 attacks.
While there have been civilians who have stepped up to thwart attacks, and/or become first responders, the statistics have shown that security forces - be they soldiers, Border Police or regular police - have been the primary responders to attacks.
Some 61 soldiers and another 61 Border Police officers have neutralized terrorists who have carried out attacks, as opposed to 13 security guards, and ten civilians who have done the same.
