A group of 30 prominent American Jewish leaders, led by Robert G. Sugarman, chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, arrived in Israel on Monday for a two-day solidarity visit.
The delegation, which was organized on 24 hours’ notice, met with government leaders, defense forces and citizens of the State who have been impacted by the endless rocket attacks from Gaza.
“We are to show our solidarity and unity with the people of Israel,” Hoenlein told Arutz Sheva.
“There’s no more impressive and impactful way to show them that we care than by being here physically with them to experience, even for a short time, what they have been living with day after day,” he added.
Hoenlein further said that the visitors go back to the U.S. “strengthened to see the courage, the resiliency, the dedication of the people of Israel.”
“We have the opportunity to go back and tell the story having seen firsthand what they are going through, to see their commitment to sustaining life,” he said.
