A Greek neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party member provoked controversy on Friday after shouting 'Heil Hitler' in parliament chambers, causing him to be ejected from the building.
Golden Dawn MP Panagiotis Iliopoulos was ousted by the acting speaker after he poked fun at the leader of the main leftist opposition Syriza party, the AFP news agency reported.
As Iliopoulos was leaving the chamber with fellow Golden Dawn lawmakers, he called MPs applauding in approval "goats" and "pathetic".
Amid the uproar, Golden Dawn parliament spokesperson Christos Pappas reportedly shouted "Heil Hitler" several times, state-run Athens News Agency reported.
Earlier this week, Pappas praised Adolf Hitler as a "visionary".
"Thank you for bringing up writings from our youth," Pappas told the chamber. "Nationalism is the youth of the world and its future belongs to nationalism."
The neo-Nazi party, which has become notorious for its blatantly anti-Semitic and xenophobic beliefs, won 7 percent of the vote and 18 seats in the country’s June national election.
