Brigadier General Tamir Yadai has been inducted as the IDF's new Commander in Judea and Samaria.

He replaces Brig. Gen. Hagai Mordechai, who served as Commander for about 18 months.

Major General Nitzan Alon, Commander of Central Command, said at the induction ceremony: "Tamir, a seasoned commander, receives command over one of the more complex units in the IDF, in an area and a time that are saturated with challenges. I am sure that in your way, with leadership, understanding and professionalism, you will lead the Division to fulfilling its mission, to building its force and hardening it."

Brig. Gen. Mordechai said that "We worked to improve the quality of day-to-day security and the professionalism of the combat soldiers, while clarifying the rules of engagement… We must implement the freedom of action and act resolutely against the terror. At the same time, our moral duty is to act in a restrained way, while using the force necessary for carrying out the mission."

Brig. Gen. Yadai said that he feels a mixture of "gratitude, awe and great faith."
