Former Kadima MK Zev Bielski has joined the growing call to free Jonathan Pollard. Bielski issued a call on his Facebook page to sign on an appeal for Pollard’s release.
More than 122,000 people have signed the petition, which appeals to United States President Barack Obama to commute Pollard’s sentence to time served and free him from prison. Pollard has served over 28 years of a life sentence for passing classified information to Israel.
“On the eve of the holiday of freedom [Passover – ed.] and days before the United States President’s visit, let us pray for Jonathan Pollard’s release,” Bielski wrote.
Bielski noted that Pollard has expressed regret for his actions.
Many Israeli leaders and public figures have signed the petition, including former President Yitzchak Navon, Yesh Atid head Yair Lapid, and Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home) head Naftali Bennett.
