Elite Navy commandos rescued parents and three children whose disabled yacht was stranded dangerously close to Lebanon early Tuesday.

The Navy ship, outfitted with missiles, rushed out on the high seas after officials received an SOS call from the yacht ”Odelia” late Monday night.

Water began seeping in after the boat’s engine failed approximately 30 miles off the Lebanese coast.

The family had left the port of Haifa and was on the way to Cyprus, Voice of Israel government radio reported.

A Navy officer told the radio network that the soldiers helped the family board the navy ship. “Crew members tried to help the father, who was at the helm, to fix the engine."

The passengers are safe but were scared during their ordeal, the officer said.
